First you download the installation package, and then you install Adobe Reader from that package file.

Id recommend starting here before going down more esoteric paths.

Mine was stopping at 53 and I could see the same error in the logs.

The correct fix is documented here: macos - How can I fix permissions for files in the varfolderszz - Ask Different But basically you can do this: sudo rm -rf varfolderszzzy sudo shutdown -r now After a reboot things should work.

Tried it with browser on and of, dropbox onof and no virus scanner.
